Woody Schabata

born in 1955, is one of the most important mallet-players in Austria.

Without mentioning that there are very few high-class marimba-players and vibraphonists Woody Schabata, because of his manifold musical activities and various compositions, extraordinary.

After having finished the Highschool  for Music and the Conservatory of vienna he spent a year for further studies in Oberlin/USA.

Back in europe he shows one more time his multiplicity in his musical activities: to mention is his long-lasting mebership at the „Vienna Art Orchestra“ with which he toured around the world.

In 1986 his first solo-album „May-Rimba“ has been released by Polygram.

Geb.1955 in Wien. Studium an der Musikhochschule, sowie am Konservatorium d. Stadt Wien.

Einjähriger Studienaufenthalt am Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio, USA.

Woody Schabata gilt heute als einer der bekanntesten Jazz-Mallet-Spieler Österreichs.

Durch die musikalische Vielfalt seiner Betätigung und Kompositionen in diesem kleinen Kreis eine Ausnahme-stellung inne. In seinen musikalischen Aktivitäten zeigt sich einmal mehr das große Spektrum dieses Musikers.

Herausragend seine mehr als zehnjährige Mitgliedschaft beim Vienna Art Orchestra, mit dem er mehrere Welttourneen absolvierte.
